Testimonials

See what others have been saying about Debra Levy Eldercare Associates.

We are so grateful to the many families and professionals in the senior community who make referrals to us for care management and companion services. We are equally thankful to the physicians, attorneys, trust officers, financial planners and facilities who recognize the value of our services and understand that bringing our expertise to the table enhances the lives of their clients.

Guidance & Setting Limits

We have been extremely pleased and comforted by the care management that your staff has provided for my mother and our family. Susy Murphy is indeed a skilled, kind, warm and knowledgeable care manager.  She did a great job of giving guidance and setting limits with my mother’s caregivers.  We have appreciated all of the support and assistance.

Worked Tirelessly

I can’t begin to express how much our care manager has helped my uncle and our entire family in making sure he is being taken care of as well as possible and in helping us arrange to have him transferred to a nursing home in Western New York.

Our care manager has worked tirelessly to make sure my uncle’s every need has been met and has been in communication with me every step of the way. She has consistently gone out of her way to anticipate needs and details that I would have never thought of. Honestly, I just can’t imagine what I would have done without her.  I only wish that she could be in New York to continue taking care of my uncle. I can’t imagine we could ever find anyone even close in excellence to take her place. Because of her, I will heartily recommend Debra Levy Eldercare Associates to any and all friends and colleagues who may be in need of assistance with an elderly person in their lives.

Things Were Going to Get Better

I wanted you to know that my dad called me tonight as soon as I walked into the house from work, and thanked me for sending you two wonderful care managers to help him take care of Mom and him. He sounded very tired, but the kind of tired that sounded like he could finally relax and know that things were going to get better. Unbelievably, I think you two have done a wonderful job of appealing to his desire to continue to live in the house but be able to take good care of Mom. I was so happy to talk to Dad and I had tears running down my face as they are now. THANK YOU for your efforts, caring and your kindness in dealing with my parents. It’s just been a fantastic miracle for our family.

Hard Work & Compassion

Thank you for all of your hard work, compassion and being a listening ear for both me and my father. He really liked you and you being there helped his many transitions. Thanks for everything.

General

You are a wonder! No matter what’s thrown at you, I’ve never heard you complain or get discouraged. I’d love to see your job description. Every time I read one of your messages, I wonder what any of us would have done without you!

I second that endorsement. You give the word “resourceful” a whole new meaning. Along with patient, determined, thorough, knowledgeable and kind… I could go on!

I cannot say enough or find words to express our thanks for the way our care manager guided us along the way until the end. She is not only a seasoned professional but a very charming and compassionate person. We have been honored to have worked with her as she covered every aspect of the case, especially the interaction and liaison with the healthcare community.  My son and daughters and granddaughter join me in thanking you.

Amazingly Helpful

We were suddenly confronted with a crisis because of a fall complicated by Parkinson’s disease. Our care manger was amazingly helpful. She advised us on Rehabilitation Hospitals and helped us navigate the necessary steps to accomplish that. She visited and ascertained that my husband’s needs were being met.

Cannot Thank You Enough

I wanted to thank you for being an advocate, friend and family for the past 5 years. Thank you for all the little things: TV, the fruit, sugarless candy, and the sugarless gum. Thank you for all the big items too… healthcare conferences, medical chart reviews, staying after the staff about dental care, eating and a whole host of other things. As I told you, I did not feel our client was alone, because she had you. I know her passing was hard on you because you were so close to her. I cannot thank you enough.

Thank you for stepping in and the extra hours to see that she was not alone in her final hours. Thank you for arranging for the private duty aides and overseeing her care and conveying the information back to me.

Terrific Options & Support

Just a quick note to let you know how wonderful our care manger was with my dad, she really got at the heart of things, offered terrific options and support. We feel relieved that we have someone in our corner. Thank you for sending her our way and making it happen quickly, so we could get some relief personally and for our dad.

Articulate, Intelligent & Thoughtful Advocate

Just want to tell you again how happy we’ve been to have you as my brother’s care manager. You have had many new ideas that have been very helpful in meeting his needs. You respond quickly and clearly to any inquiry we have and you have been an articulate, intelligent and thoughtful advocate for my brother. After many years he is finally getting the help he needs.

Client Passing Away

From the first time we spoke with you, until the day before his death, you were his constant advocate; using your deep knowledge of health and human services, and your considerable skills at encouragement and negotiation to advance  his well-being and quality of life. His greatest fear was being stripped of his independence and “put” into a nursing home. You liberated him from his dependence and isolation at home and made possible 1 ½ years of the best life he had experienced. I will remember you and am grateful beyond words.

Client Passing Away

Thanks for all the effort you put in to assuring our parents a safe, healthy and comfortable end of life, and for serving as pallbearer at their funerals. You honored them with both.

Godsend

Thank you for everything you did for my parents. We could not have functioned without you. Your help added many months to the lives of my parents. You were a Godsend. God bless the work that you do.

Trained Second Set of Eyes & Ears

Words cannot even begin to express how grateful I have been for your support for the past 4 years. I still remember the day we met at my mother’s Van Ness apartment. You calmly assessed the situation and helped me establish some stability over a situation that was beginning to spiral out of control.  Having a trained second set of eyes and ears during the times of difficult decision making was a tremendous source of comfort. Without you, we never would have found the perfect facility which for my mom and our family was a Godsend.

Back to Being a Husband, not a Caregiver

It was thanks to you that I discovered the perfect facility for my wife and it is living up to my expectations. I visit her almost every day, drive her to the quaint little town nearby and we go for a brisk walk. She has been at her most serene when riding in the car. Perhaps it reminds her of her traveling days. A few of her close friends who live nearby come with me sometimes. I am back to being a husband, not a caregiver.

Parkinson & Client Passing Away

My father suffered from Parkinson’s disease as well as Parkinson’s dementia. I interviewed several care management firms by phone. You and your firm stood out from the start with your helpfulness and caring. Your staff took my information right away, agreed to work with me initially by phone and fax, and set up an appointment to meet me and assess my father quickly. Susy Murphy (along with a nurse care manager) developed a great rapport with my father. Over the time my father was in an assisted living, his care managers did many things to make our lives easier. They made sure that his personal care and health needs were met, went to medical appointments to ensure communications and compliance, bought toiletries, debugged shaving challenges and bought a new shaver, bought shirts and pj’s and above all, brought McDonalds hamburgers and a smile. They made certain that I was involved with all decisions and kept me up-to-date. When my father broke his hip, they went to the hospital while he was in the emergency room to comfort him, went at least daily to visit my father and reassure him. All of this at a significant cost to their sleep and family life, including weekends and Thanksgiving. Rehab proved difficult, they continued their frequent visits, brought clothing from the assisted living, dealt with the nursing and doctors, participated in care conferences. At the end, Susy was invaluable – helping me with initial plans for a suitable memorial, calling me when my father was failing, coming to the nursing home after his death to comfort my mother and me, helping with the arrangements, letting us know what to expect, what to do. She wrote a lovely obituary and letter for us, and attended the memorial service. Thanks to all of your staff who helped my father directly or indirectly. You and your firm provided an invaluable service with great compassion and care.

Grateful Wish for Seniors & Caregivers

Many, many thanks for your very generous donation to the Holy Cross Health Caregiver Resource Center. We can certainly use the donation, but the honor of being chosen as your charity this holiday season goes far beyond what money can buy. It warms the cockles of my heart as I’m sure it does Deb’s.

My grateful wish for each of you is that God will bless your mission of helping our seniors and their caregivers as we all travel the long caregivers’ journey. May it be less lonely for them because we are all helping.

-Gratefully in love and peace, Sister Kathy

 A Thankful Sister

I can’t thank you enough for the outstanding care Mike provided to my brother, Jim and me.  I am at peace, as I have known he was going to die for several years and just prayed that he would not suffer. My prayers were answered by you: Mike you provided such timely care to my brother when he was suffering. You worked miracles with the pharmacy in procuring his medications and kept him calm – he so appreciated your kindness. I truly appreciated your discussions with his pulmonologist which led to the JSSA Hospice referral.  Between you and the wonderful hospice caretakers, Jim was kept as comfortable and as alert as possible. We should all be so fortunate to have that kind of care.

Please feel free to pass on/publish my words of gratitude to you – all families should know how much it means to receive such loving kindness and expert medical care. I will never forget you.
